Christina Lopez

I am a professional broadcast news producer at WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana, crafting engaging, informative and timely newscasts for viewers across Southeast Louisiana. I love working alongside a team of journalists to share stories that matter to the community while keeping viewers informed. I'm able to tackle the unique challenges of the ever-changing newsroom with a calm, decisive and ambitious mindset.

Portfolio

Here is a collection of my works from my time with KWES-TV, Reporting Texas TV, internship with the Voces Oral History Center and various classes at the University of Texas.

Demo Reel

Here is a reel of some of my producing work with News West 9. Here, you'll find breaking news, cold opens, some A block content, teases and cross talk at the end of the 10 p.m. show.

KWES-TV / NewsWest9

I got my start in broadcast as a Producer-in-Residence with Tegna at KWES in Midland/Odessa, TX, from June 2025 to April 2026. There, I primarily produced our 30-minute 10 p.m. show, showcasing the biggest news of the day. At KWES, I had the opportunity to jump straight into producing and gain hands-on experience within the first two weeks of working. I was entrusted to produce the 30-minute 4 pm and 5 pm shows and also got the chance to produce the hour-long 6 pm show. In addition to writing content, I also created all full screens/split screens and edited the majority of the VOs and VOSOTs in the shows.

Reporting Texas TV

I served in various roles including anchor, producer, social media editor and more!

Reporting Texas TV – April 25, 2025

Anchor desk debut! I wrote the first teases for each block (A1, B1, etc), wrote and produced the preshow. I reviewed scripts and edited them to best fit my voice/vocabulary. I prefer to stay behind the camera, but I delivered each story concisely and energetically!

Reporting Texas TV – April 3, 2025

I was the producer for the B block of this newscast starting at 8:03. I assigned writers to stories, communicated with writers and anchors about their deadlines and collaborated with the rest of the producing team to make sure our newscast was ready to air.

Don Tosti was a pioneer of Chicano rock-and-roll music

Edmundo Martinez Tostado, born in El Paso in 1923, played with all the greats of the Swing Band era.
“Everybody’s born with talent. God doesn’t make anybody anything,” he told Mark Guerrero in a 1999 podcast. “You can pray to God all your life to make you something. He’s too busy. He’s got a lot of people. But if you want to, all you have to do is study. And you get there.”
Tostado was raised by his maternal grandparents after his mother moved to California and didn’t know his father until later...

The Tejano Monument on the state Capitol grounds faced many hurdles

From the Voces Oral History Center:
On March 29, 2012, hundreds celebrated the unveiling of a new monument at the Texas state Capitol. Then-Gov. Rick Perry commended those responsible.
It took over a decade for a small team of history-lovers to change laws, hire a sculptor and raise over $2 million to bring the Tejano Monument to life.
The sculpture was the brainchild of McAllen physician Cayetano Barrera. When Barrera visited the state capitol in 2000, he noticed something missing.
Barrera talk...
